Cheers,

Steve, were you at the GW festival of speed....??

In fact, was it not you who was getting the press photographer's pass for it....??
Rings a bell from an old thread, but that might not have been you.....
Posted on: 09 July 2006 by Steve2701
Ali.. Correct on the GT

& correct, I was at the GFS, got back this afternoon. I would have liked a pass to all areas _ if only. The best show by far to date.

That was the press car owned by ford from day one, repainted for this event in the winning colours to mark the 40th anniversary of its Le Mans win.

Now.. who was driving it?? Think Cobra...

He had a slight queue behind him as well, any takers?

Alpine? 3rd on back is it a Tipo33 Alfa?
Posted on: 09 July 2006 by Hammerhead
Is that Carol Shelby?
Posted on: 09 July 2006 by Rico
that's a GT40, not a GT.
Posted on: 09 July 2006 by Rico
and I'd guess Dan Gurney, in the driver's seat.
Posted on: 10 July 2006 by Steve2701
Rico is correct.. Dan Gurney. I have to send these pics to a guy who had taken along some part of his Cobra in the hope a getting his autograph.

Blue car behind, while looking similar to an Alpine is in fact a Panhard.

Correct with the Alfa also.. the car in front of it is a 250GTO (one of 2 there) not a bad traffic jam to be in!

More later.....

A new 'old' car?

Posted on: 10 July 2006 by TommyT
Lancia Stratos
Posted on: 10 July 2006 by Steve2701
Close, very close.......... but no cigar, sorry.

It would appear that Lancia forgot to register the overall design of the car, someone else found this out, designed what you see here, and has every intention of bringing it to production. The courts have said he can after many protestations from Lancia! What a sight that will be.

Steve,

No I'm affriad - is that the new 599 Super america, the one old Luca got in the boot - I have driven a 288 GTO which was brutal, turbo lag and then WWIII - Must admit mid engine allways my fav 355 - new 430 - however until my numbers come up! - However will be planning to attend Silverstone classic - Green does not suit me as a colour!! Razz
Posted on: 10 July 2006 by Steve2701
If green is not to your liking then perhaps :-

Though perhaps not this one as it had a slight re design of the front end when pushing some hay bales out of its way at 80mph....

6litre v12 0-60 = 3.7 secs. Awsome beast.

There is always this one :-

Steve

Yes - that is the one for me - even like the colour, please send my free gift!!!!

Saw this little collection at last years silverstone event
250 GTO, 288 GTO, F40 F50 Enzo - bet they don't use direct line

I am hanging my head in total mortification at not recognising the 250 GTO.It is probably the best looking car ever made IMHO. Was it Nick Masons?

Big H!
No, neither were Nicks, I dont think 10/10ths were there at all this year. He has been to virtually every other! (think he's 'on tour' with Roger Water & DSOTM) While I agree its extremely good looking I have a penchant for the P3 - 4 If only.

Steve

Looks to me like 4 V5's put together with pretty large cylinder heads - may be around 20,000cc - should cut your lawn PDQ

Sorry could n't post image of the enzo - JPG to big
Posted on: 10 July 2006 by Steve2701
Sorry anthony, way out!
Multiply your answer by two & add ten thousand then you will have it. Yup 50litres & V16, this is nowhwere near the biggest. This one only delivers 1,000bhp for high speed ferries etc. The bruisers are 3 & 4 times this little one..

The engineering is oh so good though..

Ok, a little Italian for you?
