iPod case & docking port/charger question...
Posted by: andy c on 11 February 2006
Hi,
for various reasons I am thinking of getting a 30gb iPod video.
What cases are y'all using? if you don't mind, can you post me a link to the case in question?
Also, which docking port are y'all using?
thanks for taking the time to reply.

Andy - I use a blue iskin -
http://www.iskin.com/eVo3gallery/features.html
I think it is excellent. If I drop the ipod, it is well protected - almost bounces, it sits well on the dashboard of the car - does not slip due to being made of rubber which I find very useful. Finally, it protects it from wear and tear very well.
One happy customer.

For a straight docking port the apple unit is fine. check out
www.ilounge.com
for descriptions and reviews or all iPod cases, docks and all other accessories. I can't praise this site too much, it's the iPod reference point.

For portable functionality, I am very impressed with the SendStation Pocket Dock Line Out. Using the line out jack, the sound is much improved by bypassing the iPod's volume control. I found the best price at amazon.com

The trouble is the new video iPod is such a work of art it's a shame to put it in a case, a bit like putting Anita Ekbourg in one of those crime scene investigation suits.

The 5G iPod is a brilliant piece of kit. Get http://www.flashbacksales.co.uk/ to make you a suitable mini plug to din so that you can run it through your naim system. You'll be truly surprised at how good it sounds. It sounds better than the radio (FM) in my system (surely because of less than optimal FM installation)I still haven't got a docking line out adaptor but it's in the mail. The evoskins Evo3 is nice I have one, a blue one. They also sell some nice ear buds that are more efficient than the apple buds. You may have discovered that 160kbit encoding (AAC) gives beter results than the 128 kbit encoding (AAC). I'm having great fun at present trawling through my collection getting the best stuff for almost instant access.
I'm not using the pod how I imagined I would, but I am using it everyday.
For more ways to spend money look here:
I have a podgear universal charger I got mine from the FNAC in Paris.
