Stegaline versus internal phono boards

Hello,
I know that a Prefix is better in comparison with Stageline or internal phono boards,
but what's about a Stageline versus phono boards.
Would a Stageline powered by a 52 preamp sound better than my internal phono boards
(NA 522 from ~ 1994)
TT is a LP12/Lingo1, Akito 2, Linn K18II. Buying a Prefix means that I have to change
the cartridge as well as the Akito, 'cause there is no Prefix for MM and the
Akito was told not to be good enough for a MC cartridge!?
So what would you recommend me to do?
