Since the departure of my ittoked Sondek over 10 yrs. ago - with the advent of CD - my Onix/kan system has largely been dormant. Could not be bothered with the compressed sound of fm broadcasts...Now , i have reentered the digital age, system is now showing its former dynamic characteristics, on a Pace 735 box. Remarkable results i would say, especially for £80 which is what the box cost me. Anyone else found to their surprise how good these boxes sound?

I have to say I have my pace box linked up to my hi-fi and it sounds remarkable. It has a real clarity that I cant get from other sources.
I am thinking of investing into a digital radio and I hope I can get the same clarity and depth of sound from it.
Regards

May i say 1st. that although not Naim style piece of equipment, I didn't want to end up in the 'Padded Cell'. (If there are any complaints I can move to that place!)
2ndly, thanks to the late j. vereker comment, my amp., OA21, appears to be an early Nait clone!
More on Kans , here or somewhere else. (It appears they are revised marked 1's judging by the no. 025921/2
Thirdly, in answer to NB, who incidently does not mention his hook-up equipment, this box, which is supposed to run at 256kbs, may sound better than a videologic tuner (?).
Derek W. this is a DTT box and the sound is, in my comparison, Akai VCR nicam, vastly superior in sound to it. Even listening to the news is a delight, so smooth and dynamic, that it is much better than my 70's Sugden tuner by a long-shot.
One morning i caught a cathedral relay of service from Coventry cathedral - organ music and choirs - and the sound , brillant for the quality/£, is ...great. Only once , on a Channel bbc4 prog. did the string quartet sound completely off, but it may have been i pulled on the aerial lead , fixed now.
The DTT sound is much superior to my ARcam cd box and that cost about 5 times as much, but going by todays prices, the Arcam is now x10 the price of the Pace. Now my CD interconnect lead, a chord model, resides in the Pace....

Having rescanned the Pace for the new radio stations and listened to the bbc 6 music station, the sound is quite unpleasant partic. in the treble. Wouldn't it be ironic if i end up using the HIFI - kans etc - in order to watch the tele!!
Still have not come across nasty TV sound output with it though. With 6 music, the beyers had to come off the head pretty quick.
Re-born tele watcher.
