I'm not a religious person, but what else can I say? Thankfully only a broken leg suffered in this:

Tony,

I was watching the race live and thought the driver must be dead but thankfully he got away with a broken leg.
The other thing that crossed my mind was how lucky the other driver in the car underneath was not to lose his head.
Incredible escapes indeed.

And all because the leaders were saving fuel on the last lap? Mmmmm. I hope uncle Bernie takes note.

Yes but it made for an exciting finish though.

As well as the multiple leg fractures, he has a compression fracture in his back.
Still, if I crashed at 200mph I'd be happy with that.
It seems that the car he hit was stuttering while running out of fuel. Makes a mockery of all the advances in car tech and safety in my opinion.

Agreed Tony but the way i look at it is that its a dangerous sport and accidents WILL happen no matter what.
The guys alive and thats a bonus. Winker

A testament to how strong the cars are.

Wonder if he's filled it in?

During the race,it was reported, that he had suffered from deceleration trauma. On a good note, the Navy's Blue Angels, want to offer him a position on their acrobatics team.

Mmm, I think a full inquiry is due in US motorsport. This race could also have ended in tradegy. Almost a reminder of those awful days of Roger Williamson's crash.

A very unusual response from the marshals, Indy and NASCAR guys, looked like a rookie training day.

I bet the driver was crapping himself

Herself, not that it's important. No doubt there'll be corporate pleasing responses from all concerned, but they'd better sort it or there'll be huge implications in the land of legal proceedings.

I wonder if anyone was praying to a /their/ or a God(s)/God/higher power Big Grin (of their choice)...I bet one of the drivers may have been considering it....

Probably a good time to start hedging your bets if you're not a Ned Flanders type!
