Naim preamp with Non-Naim amp
Posted by: Charlezz on 03 November 2003
Hi guys,
I intend to use my Nac52 with a non-Naim amp (Spectral) . Could you tell me which cable I could use to make it work?
Could the Din-Xlr cables coming with the Nap135 do the trick or not?
Ps : The amp has Cinch and XLR possibilities.
Thank you.

er..
Perhaps you want to check with your dealer to see if you can use non-MIT cables with Spectral amplifiers...
In the States at least in the past, Spectral did not honor the warrany if they are used with anything other than MIT cabling since some can make the amps to oscillate.

I've been thinking of doing something similar-32.5 & HiCap to an Audio Research power amp. Anyone tried something similar and would you be willing to share your experiences? I know I need some custom leads- I can make these myself but a wiring diagram would be appreciated.
Or am I likely to blow my gear up?!

Is there anybody in there using a Naim preamp with a non-NAim amp??
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for answer.
Does it mean it could be dangerous for any part of the system to use Naim Preamp and Spectral amp together??
THank you.
Ps: "Cinch" is in France what you perhaps call "RCA"...

I used to run a 42/Hicap into an Audio Research D70mk2 with very, very good results. My dealer at the time modified an Audio Techica tonearm cable to hook the Hicap up to the D70,and it worked a treat. I would not use the standard unshielded mains flex cable for this purpose. Later I had a very early sample of the Deltec Black Slink cable to run from the Hicap to the Audio Research, and ended up preferring the modded tonearm cable.

I've been using a 52 into a Plinius SA-102 with stunning results replacing 135's. I'll be buying them shortly once I sell the 135's.
Used a 4 pin din to 2 x RCA's cable - Chord Cobra - just plugged into the back of the Supercap and then into the SE RCA plugs on the power amps. The power amp has a balanced input but the 52 does not output balanced signals so you can't use them.
Cheers

I have read on many forums , it could dangerous for the amp and the speakers to use a Spectral amp with any non-Spectral preamp or non-MIT cables.
COuld you tell me more??
