So do I, as Earls Court Oct 1994 was the best sound and vision experience I have had the plearsure of witnessing. I did tape the BBC broadcast of the concert and still have it, as well as owing the LP & CD's of course. I remember thinking at the time, there is no one else who could put on a concert like this and the parallel with Naim Hi-Fi. That is, everyone else is just pissing about when it comes to sound reproduction and I'm glad I chose the floyd and naim all those years ago.

I saw the Floyd a total of 11 times, including 3 times a Earls Court in 94, and by far the best sound was for "The Wall" concerts - also at Earls Court - in 1980/81.

I seem to recall that as well as the usual superb 64 channel sound they installed subwoofers under certain seats, to ad to the experience.

Rave review in today's Guardian for the Pompeii DVD. Could be tempted.

[only time I saw them was at B'ham Town Hall [c.1969?], featuring the 'Azimuth Co-ordinator' [speakers all over the place and Rick Wright with a joystick. I was impressed at the time, but in retrospect it was possibly a bit naff. Full marks for effort though]

I'll be getting that as well.

I really hope the DVD version has Echoes as one song and not at beginning and end, which is annoying

Yes!

Its actually a great video, with saucer full on it as well, but the organ part at the end is a lot more chilled than the original.

I actually really like this video, but I don't have a video player anymore, so i'll get this little baby soon as.

The Pompeii DVd is very good. The sound and picture quality are both exceptional.

Echoes is still split in two, but the film is a "sdirector's cut". No more music, but a reworked intro, and lots of extra interview material.

Extras include a very interesting interview with director Adrian Maben, the original cut of tthe movie, posters, bootlegs, graphics, lyrics, picture gallery and a history oof Pompeii.

Put it on your Xmas lists....

Nick, the original movie runs for about 80-85 mins. I would say the director's cut lasts 15 minutes longer.

Nick,

From my fabulous room I thought the "p" was obscured by clouds, but then I was really drunk at the time, or as everyone knows "on the dark side of the moon, it's always dark" Smile Smile

I saw the Royal Albert Hall concert where Rick Wright's joystick had someone walking round the full 360 degrees, opening doors before finally flushing in the smallest room. Rick also got to play the RAH Organ performing A Saucerful of Secrets (so I thought), but it looks like it was called The End of The Beginning (with choir). I guess this was a working title, just like "The Amazing Pudding (AHM). I think "Eclipsed" might also have neen the WT for DSOTM (from a Sounds Magazine Interview in Jan 1972).

For those of you who dont remember the 60's, well 1969 anyway, here is the Melody Maker advert on 24 May 1969:-

The song on the Pompeii DVD with the dog howling was "Mademoioselle Nobs", the dog seemed to react when David Gilmore played the harmonica. A great DVD for any Pink Floyd fan.
