nSAT in Black

Thanks Adam - however, why exactly have you posted what appears to be a simulation of a black speaker, that bears ittle or nothing to the "real" piano black item????

Just wondering, or is there a "new" black?

Martin.

Quite cute, perhaps, but it doesn't look very "Naim" to me. I wonder what JV would have made of it.

I agree with Graham, it is indeed cute but perhaps not very Naim-like. Still, time moves on and styles grow and change.

The Black looks odd to me. Adam, is this a photo of a real speaker or a rendering from a quality CAD system?

Regards,

Rich.

Looks like they do in the flesh.

Are black stands also being planned?

Why?

Adam

I'm not sure to what your "why" relates. But the answer is probably the same in any event.

I meant to convey that Naim have moved on an awfully long way from your "hair shirt" origins, to a point where you're now producing a dinky little component that would not LOOK (I said nothing about SOUND) out of place in the product range of [ * ], and what would your charismatic, highly opinionated, founder have thought of it all.

I want Naim active speakers that are half size of the current N-sat and black. I Will buy them if Naim make them as described. Big Grin

I'm sure that B&O would oblige.

Yes I look into it already and really like the Beo2 subwoofer and the Beo3 speakers set. will buy them to match with my new 40" Sony flat screen LCDTV Bravia XBR1

I think they look nice.
Variety is the spice of life, - ( black grilles to add that extra choice.)

I have got to ask, can you now get the Allae in Black if requested. I would also like to ask another strange question. Which if any in ceiling speakers/in wall speakers best match Naim speakers.

In a £40 a pair sort of way. Why the horrible silver front - what's wrong with all black?

Do you wear the same clothes as you did 20 years ago?

I think it's minging too but Naim can't keep wondering what JV would think. Let him rest in peace and allow the guys at Naim get on with producing whatever new products they think their punters will be interested in. Even if they think that N-Sat in Black is a good idea Eek

Fair enough, but we can say what we think, surely?

I think that Naim's new high end products are remarkable, by the way (see my thread re the Grahams preview of the 555 and others).

DBLs - OK, I don't know.

They would sit really well in an Ikea show room. You know without any electronics or electrics or glass so kids couldn't hurt themselves in the stampede for cheap beds.

For the home cinema market silver and black matches either colour tvs. My guess is an all black version would be to order.

Actually in the picture at the start of this thread it looks like the silver part is not only the grille, but also the entire front baffle as well as part of the sides and top. So taking off the grilles would hardly get the all black look. The maple ones don't have this contrasting baffle treatment so I'm not sure why the black ones do.

I agree the silver looks very cheesy, at least in the picture. Also agree that black stands would be nice, even for the maple and cherry n-sats.

For home theatre, black speakers blend in better since they will not draw the attention in a dark room (when you watch movie). Bright colors are not desirable. Also, small and dynamic speakers will make the movie sounds more lively and take lesser space in the room. For home theatre, the main show piece is the large flat screen TV not the audio system.

...errr...from what i've listened to, the audio side is JUST as important as the video side....

Too right Don. The picture size/quality is quickly ignored while decent dound quality is instantly recognisable and desirable.

I also have to agree on black .. unless it's dark olive and black.

Black and dark colours have the advantage of making things look smaller or even invisible. Try putting your better half in silver pants... on second thoughts, don't.

Black doesn't age like silver. Black doesn't show damage and accidental marks. Black is always a safer option when in doubt.

Black has quality associations: Naim cases, quality SLRs, blued metalwork on weapons, royal limousines, business suits, navy uniforms, ebony keys on pianos, woodwind instruments, dark oak antiques and beams in/on timber-framed homes... and er..Guiness.

Piano laquer black shows dust, fingerprints and would show damage like a sore thumb!

Mine, however, look gorgeous Big Grin

I just can't wait to get them all connected up (AV system) on Monday!
