I've just bought my first Lambchop album (called "AWCMON"). I'm looking forward to getting more.

NIXON is one of the best albums (ever). I would recommend it as your next purchase, you won't regret it (ever).

Just discovered them 2 weeks ago. Is A Woman is an amazing album. Airy, floating sounds. Very relaxing, beautiful music. Unique. Not for headbangers, but there's plenty out there for them.

If you enjoy 'Is A Woman' then also try 'What Another Man Spills' in particular from the back catalogue, it is similar in style.
'Nixon' is another must, it is more uptempo with a brass/string section. 'NoYouCmon/Awcmon' is in similar vein. I had a real Lambchop splurge a few years ago, buying pretty much all the albums and ended up seeing them live-a huge disappointment that rather ruined the records for a while. They have just released a rarities/outtakes compilation which I'll avoid I think. They have re-released some of the older albums too though.

I remember 'What another man spills' as pretty funky/Curtis Mayfield-esque, while 'Is a Woman' as quiet, introverted ballads. Must dig them both back out for a spin.

...hmm, perhaps I've muddled this up with 'How I Quit Smoking'! One or the other is very soft and understated. Will research tonight...

Yeah sorry smu, 'How I Quit Smoking' is most like 'Is A Woman' of the preceding albums.

Yep, all are very good (haven't heard the new B-sides compilation yet), but for me, NIXON towers above all the rest.

I've had this album about 6 weeks now and i'm only getting round to talking about it because i found it a real slow burner. To be honest, when i put it on for the first time i thought i've bought another dud ! I could only listen to a few tracks at a time, although in saying that i did think it was a stunning sounding album,i just wasn't sure about genre. But i kept coming back to it any time i wanted to chill. Now after 6 weeks it has really grown on me and i really like the album,i think i'll invest in another soon, maybe NIXON !

No 'maybe' about it. It's a decision that will bring you pleasure for the rest of your life.
