I have recently upgraded to AV2/NAP150/NACA5 from nait 3(now powering rears until NAPV175)and i use Dynaudio 40/42c(not used)/Mordaunt short bi-polar rears.I have the following questions 1-does anyone have info on naim dvd player or other reference quality player. 2-After fantastic improvments in music in direct mode over nait 3 with average £500 sony cd player how does AV2 compare to naim other pre amps dealer demo was with cirrus dvd player rubbish music wise regards red7

I compared an AV2 as an analogue pre-amp for use in stereo against both a Nait 5 and a 112.
I felt that the AV2 was about on par with the Nait. IMO the 112 was substantially better.

Red,

I disagree with Mr. Sukebe since I think it's about as good as the 112. Just goes to show! At some stage you really need to get a pair of 42walls at the back, unless your plan is to go to floorstanding Dyns at the front of course. You really need to add a sub too - the MJ Acoustics 50 or 100 are very good value and would match suitably in my opinion.

Regards,
Frank.

Thanks Frank,
I agree as my old dealer prefered nait 3 over nait 5 and av2/150 blows nait 3 away in my opinion. Thanks for other advise i will bare in mind Frank but i need to sort my front end first as i have £700 worth of cd/dvd feeding over 3k worth of naim amps hence asking about naim combi player regards red7

Red,

Sadly the Cyrus DVD8 is one of the more musical DVD players around (helped immeasurably by the PSX-R power supply). I guess the only others I would recommend you listen to below nonsensical money would be the new Arcam FMJ. Of course, at nonsensical money, the TAG McLaren toploader is worth a lsten, but that's £4000 or so...

Frank.
