5 vs. 3 series

I have had the chance to hear a cd5 now in a non-naim setup (unfortunately) and I admit that it took some time but I like the cdp. AS for the other components I have not heard them but have heard that they are different. How exactly are they different? The new 250 vs.old, the Nait5 versus Nait3/3r and so on. I have heard a friends 52/135's/cdsII/ sbl etc.and it was astonishing! The new gear is even better! Hard to imagine. Any comments appreciated! Big Grin

Hi.
Are you thinking of buying, or just interested in knowing?
Actually you do ask a question that is not uncommon - perhaps somebody could (has) a list of the models in each Naim age group and where they stand in relation...

I am considering taking the first steps into this collective! resistence is futile....
My budget is somewhat limited. I currently run a (ack!) dvd source into a 1973 Marantz 1060 integrated as preamp to my 1968 Marantz 15 dual mono power amp, NACA5 to my Psb 600 speakers. Thinking about a Nait, and Cd 3.5. The thing is while I can compare a cd5 to the 3.5, I cannot compare the preamp/power amp components. However my friend with the aformentioned system says to stick with the older gear for greater musical satisfaction. In a way it is unfortunate that I have been exposed to such a calibre of system.....Pretty big boots to fill, lol. Any thoughts?
