Which cable - nvi to projector
Posted by: living in lancs yearning for yorks on 02 April 2007
Hi
Wondering what cable (to be fitted into ceiling in housebuild nearing completion) I need to connect nvi (already purchased) to projector (not to be bought for a while yet, maybe next year)?
See from here that I should be getting cable to go from analogue output?

I haven't gor a projector, but I have got a 1080P panel.
I had Chord company make me a custom length BNC-VGA component cable (my screen takes its' component through a 15 pin VGA port), and I'm utterly delighted with the result.
Of course, I believe Naim also make their own cable but the question is will they fit RCA connectors at the projector end.... ?

I should perhaps have said that I've ordered a Chord cable via local dealer (25m!) which will go from NVi to projector. I think that is what I need - but will I need a separate cable as well if I get, for example, a PlayStation3, or some other hi def source?
I find it all rather confusing!

Your n-Vi doesn't do video switching....
Thus you still need the cable you've already ordered.
As well as that, I'd run a good HDMI cable to the projector... if you only buy one HDMI source then just plug it to that... if you buy more then buy an HDMI switcher.
Also consider (for the HDMI sources) that wireless HDMI (from Gefen) is also on the horizon.

Ah - I understand (I think!). That's helpful, thanks

We run a Bettercables 31m HDMI/HDMI (with DVI->HDMI adapter) in our AV room.
This seems to give very good results over that distance (of course I am not suggesting you should buy from them...)

I also use a Bettercables HDMI-HDMI 8m cable underneath my floor. Good cable.

I think I'll print this page and have a fuller discussion with my local dealer - I didn't describe the full setup that I'm planning so I cannot blame them for them giving me a partial answer - I only gave them partial information

poo! Realised last night that I've ordered 25m of caqble when 15m would be plenty. I got confused... will need to see if shop can change..

Er, no I didn't, I ordered 15m... (mutter, mutter, I've started talking to myself! That's not good, is it?). The shop was very nice about not having to change the order because I'd ordered the right length!
