There are a couple of programs out there that will do this - a search on the forum might help there. If it's just one or two, then I tend to drag + drop from Amazon.

Hi Scottyhammer - I am going thru this process at the moment - however I have doubts as to my purpose in life in the amount of effort I am putting in to recovering a few album covers in into iTunes and hence into the iPod. I also went thru a similar crisis as to the meaning of life when I catalogued all my CDs into Music Collector.

Hi,

If you're using a mac this nifty free widget is very handy for getting album art into itunes.

Album art widget

Read the docs carefully once you've played with it for a bit and you'll find it only takes a few clicks to do an entire CD.

scotty check on www.versiontracker.com there are literally hundreds of little apps that do this for PC

If you cannot see the art work in itunes click the 4th button along on the bottom left. A box will appear.

You can drag artwork into this box, just select the tracks of the album first then drag the picture in. If it will not go in click the little triangle in the top left of that box.

Because my collection of CDs is so old, copies of the covers are not easily available on line - so I have decided to scan the Cd covers two at a time - given the time to search and reject in appropriate covers, scanning in is proving to be quite an efficient process.

i've never had problem just using the AllMusicGuide to copy images from. Even with old obscure-ish jazz albums, I've yet to run into trouble finding the artwork.

Derek have you tried simply typing the album name into google then clicking images. It has never failed once for me. Even crap like free CDs off of magazines.

Thanks for all your suggestions - interestingly scanning in the covers - 2 at a time using the Epson scan program (which creates two jpeg files) alongside of loading the CD onto iTunes is very efficient - I get the cover that I have into both Music Collector and iTunes and I do not spend time on searching the various internet sites or get distracted into an internet chase for info and the associated distractions.

Chasing up CD details using old CDs has shown me how the various "tracks" have been repackaged with additional tracks and a fresh cover to enable a new product to be issued.

It shows how a performance by an orchestra has been made into a commodity that can be resold and repackaged, rather losing the aspect of it being a work of art and discipline that should be treated with respect.
