Yes it is a great album by Al Stewart - first came across Al when I bought Fill Your Head With Rock - a CBS sampler released around 1970. I'd recommend his earlier elpees too
Bed-Sitter Images (1967)
Love Chronicles (1969)
Zero She Flies (1970)
Orange (1972)
Past, Present and Future (1973)
Especially Orange with enchanting tracks like Amsterdam.
Year of the Cat featured in the forum members top 1000 albums and I listed it as a classic in that thread. It is a very good record.

I have the original RCA discs that sounds excellent and not like the current remaster.

Best version of the song YOTC you can hear (music wise) is on YouTube -the OGWT performance from 76 I think. UNfortunately not on the OGWT DVDs.
In one of those Folk Britannia programmes on BBC4 there was a clip of Al singing in a folk club in the mid-60s, very earnest young man doing a very long ballad.
Apparently Robert Kirby arranged Zero She Flies LP too.

Thanks for the reminder Tel, played it tonight for the first time in ages.
I have the 1976 RCA pressing, still sounds great, in fact much better than a lot of new stuff.
My other Al fave is Time Passages, dug that one out too & came across a couple of Supertramps and a Cat Stevens while hunting around in that section, might have to make a night of it.

I love the title track of YOTC, but the consistently superb album for me is:-
Fabulous artwork to boot.

I had the MOFI version of this and jolly good it was to. YOTC is probably my all time favourite (non-classical) LP. Wonderful stuff and not a duff track on it.
