PAT METHENY GROUP

Looking to get myself some Pat Metheny Group on vinyl but have no idea where to start.

Could you please steer me in the right direction with some recommendations?

Many thanks...

Hi Apye,

I'm a big fan of Pat Metheny and I would highly recommend the double LP 'Travels', it's a live album with some of his best stuff from the early 80's. Great playing and a fantastic ECM recording.
Or try 'First Circle'.
And if you ever see a cheap copy of 'Secret Story' on vinyl, grab it because it's rare.

Hi Apye

Mat's right in my view, start with 'Travels' and then work out/back. 'Travels' will give you a clue to whats on the other ECM albums some of which are fun and others which are just bland IMO! Most albums have at least one track that's worth listening to. I think 'Offramp' is a goodie. After ECM he moved to Geffen and changed his music a little...he became the producer? Still some good stuff but different. One of my recent favorites is 'One Way' which unfortunately is not on vinyl!

Well Geoff, there are none on Ebay or Amazon at the moment and I have seen them go for around £75 in Ebay auctions. I picked my copy up from Reckless Records for £7-99 in mint condition a couple of years ago, the guy in the shop thought I had a good deal. I didn't say anything just paid for it as quick as possible Smile

Oh damn just noticed I've become a senior member - I prefered just being a member, feels more comfortable.
