Another upgrade question

Next upgrade?
Existing system:- CDX/102/NAPSC/HI-CAP/250
I have about £1200 burning a hole in my pocket, I have borrowed an XPS from my local dealer which I had for approximately 1 week. This made an overall improvement to the sound warmer and more detail, vinyl like.
Question is would I be better to upgrade the 102 to an 82 or buy a LP12 and dig out my old vinyl?
Any ideas
Sean

Maybe both if you're lucky?
Sean, there's an LP12 Lingo for sale on hififorsale.com right now for £575. Ok, the arm and cartridge are nothing special but it's a bargain considering that used Lingos alone sell on Ebay for £350-£400. The price even includes delivery and is guaranteed for a year.
You may find that by selling your 102 you have enough left over for an early 82, which will represent a big improvement over a 102.
An LP12 Lingo/82/Hicap/250 system will sound very good indeed.

I think it depends on how much you want to hear what's on your old vinyl, versus what's on CDs. I don't have much old vinyl, so it would be a moot ponit for me.

The Lp12 going for £850 doesn't appear to include an arm or cartridge, so you'll have to factor in the cost of buying them. Buying secondhand arms and cartridges can be a bit of a minefield for the inexperienced. Also, I don't know whether this is important to you, but the Armageddon doesn't do 45rpm.
I've just looked again at the other ad and it's even better value than I thought because it says the Grado cartridge is new. This is definitely the one I would go for.
