Best of Unplugged
Posted by: NigelP on 04 July 2002
Dear all,
I was in Sainsbury's last night and bought this compilation CD for 9.99. I normally like compilations in the car but was quite impressed when I played it on my Naim system. Lenny Kravitz's "Going to go my Way" is excellent as is Page and Plant's "Gallow's Pole". Definitely worth adding to your collection - it is very well produced.
Regards,
Nigel

Hey what a coincidence
I just listened to Nirvana unplugged today.
Can't quite figure out how they got the riff to The Man Who Sold the World to sound so Electric whilst they were unplugged.
Sounded good though
Odd

Can you believe that Nirvana don't even appear on the "best of" CD! yet kd Lang, Live and Sting do - Now thats just not right!

I tried to buy this on DVD or VHS but it's not available at all! Which explains the high prices of the fifth generation crap on ebay (taped off the telly).
The audio versions have been in good supply though. Maybe there are some legal issues involving Geffen Records, MTV and Courtney Hole regarding the video version.
I wish they would get on with it. Still, not as bad as the Frank Zappa videos. We've been waiting for about 15 years now for Baby Snakes on video.
And the new Zappa album waiting in the wings has turned into a farce. It will be mail order only. Gail Zappa is complaining that pre orders are low, and yet the only place you can get any info on this release is by visiting the rarely updated Zappa site. We are not told the track listing or the band line up. Only that it is a live recording made somewhere in Australia in the 1970's. Best of all, we are not told when the delivery will be, as the correct type of paper has yet to be found in the USA for the artwork. Hello???
Many have tried to express their concern on the Zappa guestbook, but all new posts are currently blocked!
Yours patiently,
Mickey.

My advice-avoid, found it dull,boring!!!
Lent a copy-only the Kravitz track is good, interesting reworking of gotta Go... as a blues track. Already got the Page Plant disc. Rest not worth it-Cranberries, Corrs,Sting,REM, need I say more. Doesn't even include Neil Young's unplugged version of 'Like a Hurricane'

Steveb,
Now you're talking. Neil Young Unplugged is brilliant.
