Arsenal cost me a Supercap

Muchachos

Being born in Hertford and living in Berkshire, obviously I support Man United. ( and yes, I have been there....) The sad performance on saturday left me in need of some retail therapy. So I bit the bullet and bought a Supercap.

At least that is getting better already. I noticed immediatley a greater presence in the upper/mid register; bass is improving but how long does it take for full effect to appear? Using LP12/82/135s.

One problem is The Nagger. If she knew what I have done the results would Not Be Pleasant. My deception plan takes into account the fact that my Hicap was on the very bottom of my rack to the left of centre. Tne Supercap has obviously gone into the same space; I now keep a few LPs in front of the right hand side of the new beast. This, plus Chick Hi Fi Box Blindness ( one, two, many ) I hope will keep me safe. Unless she spots my Visa bills...

Next step Lingo 2, or maybe a 52 - looks the same as the 82. Wink

Mike,

Get a Fraim to unlease the potential, keep the Lingo since you've got it, get rid of the Cirkus, get a Dynavector XX-2 cartridge and get some Shahinian speakers so you can hear that lot sound like it can.

Mike,

hadn't thought of the correlation between football results and Hi-Fi upgrading before now. Now you mention it, being a Hammers fan Frown is the obvious explanation for the sudden rush from Nait 1 to 82/250/2xHiCaps!

Mike,

Thats a dangerous habit buying hi-fi equipment when ever your football team loses!!

Just think where I would be being a Leeds fan
Wink

Hope your enjoying that Super-cap. Give it a few weeks and it will be really singing.

As soon as I had the S'cap hooked up I could hear a definate improvement in the upper/midrange register. Notes are rendered more precisely, and seem to be more noticeable without being overt. Bass is going that bit deeper and with a smmother roll off between frequencies. Soundstaging is improved; the location of the instrument is more defined. I have only had it for 48 hours but already the sound being delivered seems to have one less layer between me and the music. It is smoother, more relaxing and just plain nicer.

I had the one Hicap previously; some years old and never re-capped, but this seems at the moment to be a big step forwards. From what NB is saying it will continue to get better. In other words... keep an eye out for an ex-dem bargain!

Hope this is of use

Mike

PS concerning Arsenal? Tough one... at least I still have the memory of when Giggs COULD score against them in the FA Cup....

Alan,

Be thankful you're not a Liverpool fan or things could get really expensive this season.

Already bought an Aro and a Hi-cap this season and if tonight's game goes pear shaped then the speakers could be next!!!!

"Will not be getting the SBLs at the moment, then...."

What, not even at the bargain knock down price Doug announced the other day?

Mike,

Thankfully you won against Juventous last night and therefore no need to rush out and upgrade anything today!!

The Nagger must be happy Wink

Not even at the knock down prices!

My deception plan involves keeping a stack of vinyl in front of the right hand side of the Supercap; it sits in the space previuosly occupied by the Hicap which was to the left of centre; she does not know about the new box yet.....long may that continue......would have problems hiding SBLs behind albums....if I can borrow a digital camera I will try to post a picture.

What happens when your team draws like Arsenal did in the week?

Does that mean thinking about the next upgrade rather than going out and buying it?
