Uniti Can't Login to Wireless
Posted by: Vik71 on 09 November 2009
Hi all,
Picked up my Uniti on Saturday - an excellent piece of kit: sounds great right out of the box. So far the only source in use is CD for several reasons. Turned out my antenna cable did not have the right termination...trip to the shop...not to worry, that's easy.
Of bigger concern for me however is that I cannot make the Uniti connect to my wireless network. It detects the network, allows me to enter the password and then after having gone through the motions (stopping network, starting network and then attempting to connect) displays the message "Can't Login".
I have repeated the procedure several times with the same result..and wonder whether anyone else has had the same problem with the Uniti? Needless to say any suggestions - highly appreciated.

Hi Viktor,
I have had similar problems, and although i have not sorted them all out yet, i got round this one by changing the Uniti to 'wired' connection in the setup menu, turning it off and on again to reset it, then going back through the wireless setup procedure. (i.e. change to wireless, choose network, enter password).
I also turned my PC off and reset the router, just to narrow it down to a router-Uniti issue.

Viktor,I am sure Scott Bouix at Chektone can help you with set up issues,he may even be able to use remote login to set it up for you.

Thank you both Tom and Paul for your respective suggestions.
I called our internet provider today and they promised to assist me remotely with the Wireless router set up tonight.
I will then resort to your suggestions above if the troubleshooting session does not work out.
Many thanks again!

Hi Victor
Could it be that your Security on your router also uses MAC Registration? This means that you have to register the MAC-Adress from the NaimUniti into your Router. Generally this is used when your Wireless Security is only on WEP. I would suggest to set it to WPA2 PSK without MAC. So you will be safe to normal Users. What you also could try first is just to deactivate Security for a moment to test if you then can register the NaimUniti. So you know that it is your Network.
On the NaimUniti itself i have never had any trouble with connecting it to the Network. It has allways been some Config Trouble until now. If the Structure at home is setup nicely the Naimuniti should really Plug n Play.

Hi Victor
In Spain, Telefonica, the telephone provider, have wireless ADSL routers that differ from home to home depending on what supplier gives them the best deal. Sometimes the newer model just do not work well and it is simply because they are cheap Chineese rubbish.
When I have this problem I always carry with me a Apple Airport Extreme and Airport Express and wire either one of them to the router and then use them for the wireless access.
They work 100% and up until now, NEVER fail.

I also have to say, apart from the above router problems, I have never had a problem with any Uniti.
It simply always does what is says it can do, always

Again, thank you all for the great support of the the Naim community!
Have now reset the DSL router (supposedly a top of the line Motorola Netopia)still no luck with wireless. Resorted to using the provided ethernet cable (long forgotten and still in its plastic packaging and saving me a trip to the shop).
In one word - iRadio is mindblowingly rewarding: stations from the world over at my fingertips, true sound quality is dependent on sampling rate..but hey this is part of the charm of live broadcast...
One day, if I find free time will get onto the wireless connection issue, which i am now convinced is due to router configuration alone.
Next step is to to set up a good FM aerial, and then the NAS.
...going back to my radio...

Thanks to all for your great support!
