Keosa...bad or biased?

In an effort to jump on the bandwagon, I am interested to hear peoples views on Linns entry level floorstander, The Keosa.
I found them hideous, with a thickness in the bass I haven't had the misfortune to encounter since 1970s Wharfedales.
Yes I know they don't cost the earth but I have heard Eltaxs and JPWs produce a better sound, and at far less cost.
P.S. I am not anti-Linn ( I use a Linn system)
P.P.S. Cheers for the replies to "Linn Konri?" I have been ill with flu this week and have really enjoyed the forum.

Agreed, the Keosa is krap. They're unashamedly a "lifestyle" speaker aimed at a different user, IMO. When I first saw them I was pleasantly surprised at the low price. After hearing them, I realized why they charge so little!

They are not even made by Linn, they are made off shore in taiwan for Linn. They are really made only for the most entry level system. The current Kan is also made by the same off shore company. The Katan and Ninka's on the other hand are outstanding.

Aegis 3s are a much better speaker (and $200 less) than the Keosa.

I enjoyed listening to the new Kans one weekend with a CD5/Nait5! By no stretch a KanI or II, but they played music!

On most modern Linn products, including speakers there is a sticker bearing the assemblers name. Most of my system has been made by Kenny Leach and N.Trueman...Maybe the reason there is no visible name on the keosas is (a)He didn't want to own up and (b)Mr Yung Ching Ming might just have given the game away!

Having never heard then I cannot directly comment on their performance... but I must say I'm sceptical.

Basically Linn is a much larger company than say 15 years ago. Somewhere someone decided it was a good idea to produce these loudspeakers, maybe Linn is getting too large and trying to spread the jam too thinly.

Dave, seeing as you're ill with flu, you might have the time to appreciate the following article from a former Linn employee. Actually he's the guy responsible for the Keltiks (boo-hiss), but it does enlighten on the internal structure and politics of Linn.
