I'm not familiar with the CD3.5 but if it is the same as the CD5 there should be a link plug on the back (fitted into the appropriate sockets) when the player is used without an external power supply.

If this plug isn't present there will be no power getting to the player.

I think.

I can't find a manual for this player on the website, only for the current players.

As the 3.5 takes a power supply I would guess you are right, if you can see a din plug hole on the back without a plug in, this will be your problem.

If its a 3.5 then it takes a power supply, otherwise its a 3, and sound like its knackered!

Jonas, does the cd player not turn on or is your problem just not being able to play cds? From your initial description it sounds like you haven't put the puck onto the cd.

the 3.5 does NOT require the use of an external power supply though provisions are made for using one with the cd 3.5.

Can you verify if the shorting plug is in place on the back of the player? Our troubleshooting efforts will be stymied until we know this important detail. If there isn't a shorting plug and you don't have a powersupply then you're stuck until you either get a powersupply or shorting plug. If the plug is there, then ENSURE that it is inserted correctly and you are using the correct output. If I recall correctly this will be the output on the far back left of the player when facing the player from the front.

Can you clarify your situation please? Also, what other equipment are you using it with? Perhaps you're trying to listen through the wrong input selector or you've got the mute switch on or?....

With respectful regards for your technical background but lack of clarity of your situation, I am,

Hey, garyi, John Sheridan, Markus

I'm sorry, it is a NACD3, but it has a remote control. The CD can not be used with a powersuply. I have checked the fuse and it seems ok.

I have put te puck on, and it works fine, the CD spins as normal. But no musicsound comes out, just the shortbuzzing sound.

I'm testing the CD with a Nait1, and Intro 2 speakers.

...Longshot,I know, but could it be a problem with the cd-amp connecting cable ? Or even the input being used on the Nait ?

(You could really do with getting your local dealer to check it out.)

If this is not possible, then you need to try the cd & interconnect and Nait in another system, using substitution, until,by a process of elimination, you narrow down the problem.

If you have a multi-meter,you could always try metering out the interconnect cable.

Hi Chris Brandon,

I have tested the CD on anoter amp, and connected it to the computer. With the same result
Yes, I think I must hand it over too Naim.

Hmm, I have tested some more tweas with the CD and nothing will make it work frown This is how it goes in details.

    Powering on the CD
CD goes into mute as normal.
    No buzzing sound yet.
    CD goes of mute.
    Here comes the buzzing sound.
Turnging up the volume on the amplifier, the buzzing becomes louder.
Trning down the volume on the amplifier the buzzing becomes lower.
    Playing a CD.
Can't here any music only buzzing sound.
When skipping track on the CD, the buzzing sound sound a bit different. The same hapens when playing and stoping the CD.
When CD is in play mode the buzzing sound is a bit lower.

The buzzing sound, sound like when you havn't plugged in a RCA plug orderly.

Jonas,
if you have checked the interconnect and have still come up with the same effect (buzz),then i'm sorry to say that you may have a faulty out-put relay or dac maybe power supply but unlikely.
Sorry to deliver this bad news to you, return it to us and we will fix it.
