Bruce Springsteen in Dallas

My wife and I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band last night and it was very good. Bruce has lost nothing over the years and is just short of Mick in stage presence.

I have seen him 6 times before but this was the best show since 1986. We had higher seat, sound was a bit muffled, guitars buried a bit in the mix but the vocals were excellent.

He played cuts from most periods but was heavy on the new cd. Trapped, Independence Day and Because of the Night were nuggets.

The E Street band was tight. Nils Lofgren and Little Steven smoked on guitar. Max Weinberg kept an amazing beat while Clarence Clemons was his usual self on sax.

Bruce had several pre-teens come on stage for Dancing in the Dark and let the front row play his guitar as well. It was clear he enjoyed himself.

I believe Europe is coming up and my advice is to catch him if you are fans, you will not be disappointed!

Mike - sounds like a great show. He is one of the best and most consistent performers there is and I think he is a genius. As for the E Street Band, it does not get much better, particularly Max on drums and Roy on piano.

I was hoping to notch up my 20th Bruce show last November in Holland. Was waiting for the bus to pick me up from my hotel in Amsterdam when we heard the show had to be cancelled as Bruce had flu. It was moved back a night but I had to get back to Sydney so could not stay the extra day. Very frustrating to be so close to that Bruce show and miss it. I particularly wanted to hear the new material live.

Maybe I can be in the UK in May for the stadium shows to make up for it.
