Mains Poll

You need a third option of "I don't have one, but plan to install one when I get the chance". Since this is my category, I picked "I have a dedicated hi-fi mains" instead.

Mike,
When I moved from my first home(with separate
spur) to an apartment, I "downgraded" my mains. This also could be a poll option, but I'm only
interested in the here and now. I also thought
of polling on type of mains, connectors, etc.
but just decided on "you do or you don't".

Joe,
Go easy on Mike. With preparing to move soon,
he's probably buying a lot of appliances and is used to filling out those warranty cards that
say "do you plan on buying product "X" in the
next 6-12 months". wink

Ron-mon,

D'oh! I went to edit my (previous) post but I accidentally deleted it instead.

Joe, who doesn't have a 52, but sez he does because he aspires to have one

Joe,
How do you delete a post? I've intentionally
tried(double posts, etc.) and couldn't figure
out how. Please reply to this and we'll delete
these posts and I'll repost my above first post
after yours to retain continuity.

Ron The Mon,
Who's still trying to figure out hoe to post
pictures mad

Hey Ron-Mon,

After you've posted and the Web site has accepted it, go back to the thread and click on the far right icon (looks like a recipe card with pencil). When your message comes up, click on the "delete message" thingy at the top right corner.

Let's add another distinction from Mike's corner. I am taking possesion of my house in three days. At that time, I could add the extra spur any time, and I've got the money in my pocket to do it. This is different than my goal of a 52, for which I currently don't have the money.

who says he has a dedicated spur, because he can do it anytime, and will do it asap cool

Powered the system down for about three hours today to install a spur.

From stone cold it sounded much better than it had before.

I'm even thinking it might be time to put the Isobariks back!

Will connect up the earth rod tomorrow.

cheers, Martin

Dear Ron
Great - my absolute obsession!
MrT is right on the mark. I too have a 40amp dedicated spur using 10mm2 cable (not a ring - JV himself confirmed that it should be one run of cable, and a ring is effectively two). It is the most cost-effective upgrade I have ever made, and that's from an already dedicated spur using 2.5mm2 ordinary power cable! JUST DO IT!
Regards
Henry

For me this was a no brainer. Bigger difference than a Black Burndy. Or a Vukwich. Or a M..

Yikes. Just had my CDX damaged by a power cut. (Mega plug for Mark Raggett and the service team @ Naim BTW ).Anybody in the UK "had a go" at an electricity co.? I'm getting fed up with the poor / inconsistant quality of our mains. I often come home to all the clocks flashing on the VHS / microwave, boiler, .........I would expect this infrequently, but a few times a week / month ? How often do NaimHeads get this? Is my situation typical? Any comments / experiences welcome

Like you, far too often ( we also live in Avon, or did while it existed wink ). The "flashing clocks" scenario is a familiar one.

Last year, on the occasion of the Great Western Surge (can't remember when it was) I lost three modems and an external Zip drive. All used external "wall wart" DC power supplies, and were repairable by replacing these, although two of the modems haven't been quite right since.

I found out a few months later that a neighbour had lost their TV, and had had it replaced by SWEB, but it was to late for me to claim. I shall be ready next time, though.

Best;

Mark
