Hello,

I was interested in this myself. Do you know how this re-issue compares to existing issues of Tommy? Michael Fremer really liked the Classic Tommy and said it improves upon the US Decca original pressings.

Hi Scott,

It's better than the Simply Vinyl pressing and the 80's-90's reissues, but I've not got a 1st issue pressing to compare against.

All I can say is nearly all the recent Classic Records' pressings are better than the originals.

I have not seen a Classic Records release that was less than excellent.

I have several myself.

As we are talking of records from that era. My Classic Records copy of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Deja Vu is really excellent. Nearly totally quiet and a clear improvement in sound quality over the ones I have before, both CD and LP.

Dear Count

The Simply Vinyl issues, though somewhat bland sound wise, are a good value, they also have more intersting taste in music, IMHO.

How much was the Classic Tommy re-issue ?

Cordially

The site said $33 - which isn't bad for a 2-LP set.

Big Brother,

The 200gram pressing is the one to get and it's $50 in the States.

I have to say, out of all of the Classic Records that I own, the first Crosby, Stills and Nash LP by Classic is the worse sounding copy I've ever heard. Very muddy. Sounds like it was mastered on a phone machine. I'd like to get Deja Vu but I'm a little leary.
