Try the MET Strativarius (or however it is spelt). Plenty of air gaps for on hot summer days and the MET fitting system is very comfy. It offers a bit more protection than your standard Roadie cloth cap.

Glad to see helmets are a concern among those of you riding in Europe. One of my teammates went to Belgium for a week last season to do some Kirnesse races, and he was instantly labeled "American" since he was the guy wearing the helmet.
Here in the States, helmets are required for racing, and most of us wear them to train as well. I have been very happy with the high end Louis Garneau model, and also a Rudy Project helmet. The Giro helmets are also pretty good. I think part of it is finding one that fits your head well, and then in a color that matches your kit :-)
Keep the rubber side down, and may you never meet your shadow.
Cheers,
Mike

Robbie -
I've used Giro Ellipse helmets for three years now, and I think they're the best. They are light, very comfortable and most importantly I've been in two really nasty head-first, downhill crashes in them and they have done exactly what they were supposed to.
But they do tend to suit "round heads" (no sniggering at the back please), while (e.g.) Rudy Project lids tend to fit "long heads". I know it sounds obvious - but go to a shop and try some on if you can, because different makes suit different head shapes.
