New Order Remasters - Scheduled for Release in Japan on 22nd Oct 2008

Posted by: 555 on 18 August 2008

I just noticed these on CD Japan, so unless they are cancelled it looks like these are finally going to see the light of day. Cool
No specific details of contents, but on the CD JPN website says "Reissue featuring remastering from 2008 and bonus disc with rare audio."

These CDs are also on HMV Japan, but with the bonus disc contents only listed in Japanese on the English section of the website! Confused

Movement

Power Corruption & Lies

Low Life

Brotherhood

Technique

I hope this means Hooky, Barney, & Stephen have got over their differences.
When I met Stephen a couple of years ago he told me NO had recorded enough material for another album, when they were in the studio for 'Waiting for the Siren's Call'.
If the NO in-fighting has ended hopefully these unheard songs will be released soon.

Nice one roo - my excitement builds!
I see the UK release is 29th Sep,
but for the Japanese release we have to wait until 22nd Oct. Frown

Nothing new here. Very disappointing - especially as last year's "deluxe" JD releases came with previously unissued concert recordings.

I was under the impression that the same would be done with the NO reissues (ie concerts from '81, '83. '85, '86 and '89), but instead we get the same old repackages. It's not as if the band and Warners don't have the material - many people, myself included, have donated our master tapes Cool

On another and far more interesting note, Hooky has dragged up a four-track mixing desk tape of NO's first-ever gig, at Manchester's Beach Club (they were a trio back then, with Steve and Hooky doing the singing!) - will it ever get released?

Also, NO's legendary gig at Hurrah's in New York in 1980 was filmed in 16mm with stunning sound - this has just resurfaced too. I would far rather this stuff got released than some crap remixes and some readily available B-sides (and A Certain Ratio's concert the same night was also filmed).

Having seen the track list I hear what you're saying Kevin.
Suppose this means NO haven't patched things up,
but (hope against hope) perhaps the remastering will be good?

Where might I get a copy of these hi-quality live recordings Kevin?

Cheers - John

Well worth hanging back on – for me anyway. Get Ready was maxed out to the point of audible distortion. I hope the remasters will be engineered for audiophiles and not radio play.

Cheers

...Think I'll stick to my fairly large collection of vinyl 12"s! Smile

The Japanese album release of 'Waiting ...' is sonically very good HTK. Smile

If you go on any of the BitTorrent sites (Dime, Factorrents, etc) there are plenty of NO and JD recordings to download for free.

Otherwise PM me (can one still do that here?)
