Paging Frank Abela (and all those in the know)

Hi there;

I want to thank you in advance for your input and advice regarding the matter at hand. I understand that your shop does quite a bit of AV work and you're pretty familiar with the Onkyo range as well. That means you know way way more than my local shops and I'd love to benefit from your experience.

I'm currently using a NAD T753 in my home theater which doesn't have HDMI or losless audio support. With its humble power rating, it also fails to give a beefy sound. What would you suggest as an upgrade? Brands available locally are Onkyo, Yamaha and Sony. NAD is available but I'm looking for a change. If you allow me, I'll inform you about my priorities:

- Sound quality most and foremost. I like a big powerful, rich sound. I suffer from speech being difficult to comprehend at times, especially off bluray titles.
- Acceptable video quality. i only use a 720p projector for the time being. I don't need the best.
- Don't need much networking capability.
- Never was interested in the"sound enhancing" features and room correction stuff. Auto calibration is not a must either.
- Music performance is not of much interest either as the Naim boxes take care of that Smile
- I don't have many sources(PS3 and DVD player), so the number of inputs/outputs and multiroom capabilities aren't important
- Lastly, my room is around 5 x 7 meters and I only use a 5.1 setup. The receiver will be connected to the 122x via unity gain and will only have to drive my center and surrounds.
- Oh yeah, budget is limited to a maximum of about 1500 US $ (1000 pounds at present?).

Thanks so much Smile

Regards...

Sorry Flame, I've been so busy lately I haven't been surfing. I think I may have answered the question elsewhere in your TS-SR876 thread.

Pioneer are the ones to beat on the bluray player front.
