Wine. Oddbins bounces back

Just back from Oddbins. Great to see their new 20 % off 6 bottles covers most of the range and can be mixed. Certainly seduced me:

Vergelegen Sauvingnon Blanc
Hugel Gewurztraminer
Michele Chiarlo Gavi
Swan Bay Pinot Noir (cooler part near Melbourne)
Montpezat New wave looking Lanquedoc Merlot/Syrah
Campi 'Rubico' Italian red supposed to go with curry!

Their own label red is a vin de pays d'oc and is very very nice for £3.99, or £3.19 if you buy six. It's set to become the new maison halibut.

This is a good move and a response to Thresher's three for two offer. Unlike Threshers, Oddbins have not increased the single bottle price. My local store reports an increase in turnover from the new pricing structure.

I recommend Chasseaur red from Waitrose. £2.99 a bottle and its lovely.

Only thing is people know so when its there get a few bottles!

Gary,

Do you have the full name of this wine?

I'm drinking a 2001 Michel Picard Macon-Villages Chardonnay right now. Second bottle i've bought and i'm very impressed. About $9 USD. Pretty cheap for a French wine in the US.

Thanks Gary. I think "Full On Food" recommended something like this months ago from Waitrose, but I never got the name.
