Simply Vinyl

Hi,
A few days ago I received a copy of 'Metallica' on 180gm which I'd ordered from above company. Thing was, on arrival, the plastic protective sleeve was split and the album cover was partially split along the top, obviously from the LP's banging against the inside of the cover. I've had to send it back for a replacement, but has anyone had similar problems, as there are several other albums I would like from them in the future, but I don't want this hassle again.

Cheers
Ade

Don't know about the packaging side of their albums, but I won't buy any more of their LP's because they sound terrible.
The mastering is obviously done from poor generation tapes.

...do not, AFAIK, claim "audiophile" grade sound quality for their products. They just try to produce the best result they can from the best source they can obtain. Some of their releases sound excellent, others aren't so great. Their prices are not particularly high, so often they're good value, and IME an excellent "second-best" alternative to a used first pressing when you can't find one.

I think we probably have around 5 SV releases, and the sleeves have always been good quality. Ade, in your position I would change my supplier to one who packs properly!

Best;

I've ordered from SV a couple of times and found them very good. Sound quality wise - well...they do the best they can with the masters they can get. Some are better than others.

The only time I had a prob was when the post was stolen with my records in it. They refunded my money promptly with really only my word for it. Can't ask much more than that.

I'll see how the replacement copy is within the next couple of days hopefully.
