speakers for qute?
Posted by: bigsplice on 24 September 2010
Hi
Taken delivery of unitiqute and as expected very impressed! In process of warming!! hooked up to credo's but they appear to be far from perfect partners! Lookin for suggestions on potential speaker purchase, they need to be floorstanding and suited to sitting close to wall. Credo's too bright so lookin for something fuller bodied but remaining dynamic and jaw dropping. Budget is £1000/1500.

I'm still waiting for the qute, so I can`t recommend direct, but if you haven`t already, please check the link below for some helpful ideas. My budget is about the same, too

Totem Arros can be placed 6 inches from rear wall. http://totemacoustic.com/english/hi-fi/columns/arro/

What type of music do you primarily listen to?

Allsorts really but like female vocal and acoustic type music

For that type of music the Arro are absolutely wonderful. They create a soundstage which is both wide and deep I found, with imaging that boarders the surreal. I asked because had it been techno music with overloaded base elements you primarily listen to, the Arro might not have been the best suited speakers. Genrally though they are fine with all sorts of music. Best to demo yourself as there are plenty of options out there and personal preferences do vary. I never heard them on the Qute, so cannot comment how well a fit the two are. But most would probably agree that they are quite special and as you are looking for a jaw dropping experience I would certainly add them to your list of speakers to be domoed...

PMC GB-1's / Kudos X2 ?
I tried Arros - they didn't work too well close to a wall (rear firing port) in my room and i found them a bit dissapointing in the end. The tiny form factor and a very big sound from such small speakers is a bonus though if they work for you.

Some suggestions:
Rega RS5 (easy to drive so this is why it's first on the list)
er...
Shame you insist on floorstanders. I'd have said guru QM10s myself but I guess they break the budget too. Another shame, since they sounded FAB on the end of a Qute at the show.

what about the n-Sat from naim? Has someone tried them with Qute? What's their price range?

Working well with mine so far. I think somebody else is using them too. Sound a bit 'tight' at the moment but then the speakers and the Qute are brand new.
I'd say that voices are a particular strength, nice and natural and nuanced.

I have MA radius for my Qute, works really good.

I'd expect n-SATS to work very well on the end of the Qute.
MA Radius? Ouch...

Did somebody just drop a speaker on their foot?

Or may be I shouldn't ask about Naim's speakers on Naim forum?

The Qute works perfect with MA radius + Sub in my bedroom.
Not that far from my LINN main system wich cost x10 compared to the Qute+MA.
