What it's sitting on is the problem.

Ditch that ferrous stuff and free the sound.

I had 'Sound Org' stuff like that and the kit sounded better on the floor!

I kid you not. I have witnesses.

agree with JN - that Mana is not helping the tune, and as of today, I am a believer in the (non-)ferrous effect.

Hitherto, I liked QS Ref. for its non-resonant effect. Now I am trying to remove as many ferrous objects from my room as posible.

Steve.

Yes. The Sony MDS-JE510 I believe. A top flight source, if every there was one.

I don't want to make a mis-informed decision without a gander at your speakers John. So I'll have to abstain at this point I'm afraid need I put you on the wrong track...

Don't forget to remove the magnets from your Naoses. This tweak improves them ten fold.

Zing!

So you've heard the system and compared it to the same system on QS reference then? Or are you just talking through the hole in your rack as usual?

I have. I was a ferrous disciple then I saw the light. I'm not entirely a believer in the non-ferrous as an end unto itself, but the non-ferrous rack I now use certainly works more synergistically than the multiple phase ferrous assemblage I used to have...

So, Mr G, I submit my evidence to the jury...

Inadmissible!! Your evidence refers to a system with a plastic turntable and pre-amp, not to the system in question (i.e. the one photographed at the head of the thread).

JW has got his eye on this thread, so I had better behave myself. red face

Mana is airy, dynamic, and detailed.

QS Ref. is lyrical, tuneful and flowing.

Take your pick, and/or disagree with the above statment.

My "evidence" is subjective, and is therefore inadmissible.

The expression of my viewpoint is with utmost sincerity.

Steve.

It's inadmissible because it doesn't apply to the system in question. You assume because the non-ferrous approach works for you with your (unusual) system that it will work for someone else with a totally different system (in the same way in fact that many Mana enthusiasts assume that Mana will improve any system) and ears that work...

John

loved it. However, I should observe that you are in fact treating your SBL's to a fab source, fine pre, and indeed, activation of a good kind. Surely this is acceptable! wink

Actually I think mine is made of sterner stuff than to be reduced to tears by the music-destroying properties of a furry bear. Although making a Whisky Sour with Lagavulin might just do the trick.
