Naim CDI

Hi I'm new here, but have a question with regard to my set up: CDI, 82 (2 Hi Caps), 250 and Shahinian Arcs + A5 cable. I must point out as per my profile It's not yet set up as I've spent weeks preparing my front room having moved a few months ago (and no I can't wait!) - however prior to moving I noticed that I fairly often got 'error' when trying to play CD's - which I partially cured by cleaning the lens of the CDI - however this item is many years old now and feel I may need a new laser.
What do you think? - I feel it's a good CD player and seems to work well with the 82 (which was a remarkable move up from the 72 previously owned). I can't really afford a new CD player right now and am hoping a new laser won't be too expensive and will get the player sounding (and playing!) CD's as it used to.
Having said all this I've yet to hear how the Arcs will sound it what is a fairly small room (approx 14 x 12) - the system sounded great at my last house....
Any input would be most welcome.
PS I highly recommend Infidelity (the dealer that is!)

I have the puck with two rubbers (!) on, and I clean the laser etc fairly regularly - so I think it may be a trip back to the Salisbury hospital!

Thanks for the info thus far - very much appreciated.

I used a CDI with arcs for a long time - great combo and very difficult to beat without spending insane money.

I had the earliest one ring puck and I cant stress enough the benefit of giving it a good squeeze (so to speak), so that the disk is gripped a little better. The problem lies with thin disks - on some the only way it would read was by inserting a piece of paper between the disk and runbber ring - ie thickening the disk. Prob not great hi-fi but it sounded better than an err message.
