The Beautiful South

Surely one of the most underrated bands of recent years. They've been consistently witty, tuneful, and downright smart for such a long time.

I've just watched their new DVD "Live in the forest" and it's extremely good. A bunch of superb songs well played and the new female singer (Alison Wheeler) is a real find. What a voice and stage presence.

It's not a patch though on their Jools Holland appearance of a few years ago. I never understood why that was never released commercially.

Tom

I really like their last album of quirky covers.

(And if you don't have a copy, http://www.bang-cd.com had copies for £2.99 in their Bargains section).

My wife hates the Grease cover, but I love it!

Thanks for the tip about the bargain price for the covers CD.

Saw them on that tour at Manchester Apollo and was very impressed. Despite living a bike ride distance from Delamere Forest I have never yet managed to obtain a ticket for any of the outdoor gigs!
