Arms advice

Posted by: Christopher on 10 March 2003

Can anybody explain the sound of an Ittok II relative to say the Akito, RB300, Ekos, Aro etc. Is this arm any good, good enough for an Amageddon'd LP12 (with 82/HC/180)? Will it blow away my CDX/XPS?!

Never heard one, but they seem like a readily-available 2nd hand alternative. Might be a good stop-gap for a year or two, but if it's really not worth it... Any advice from people who have been able to compare to other arms appreciated!

Also, has anybody heard the Origin Live Silver arm? With an LP12?

Many Thanks

I have an Ittock LVII (rather than the last incarnation LVIII) and yes it is a very good arm and matches the LP12 very well.

It is better than an Akito and if you get a good one should be perfectly capable of seeing you through a few years.

I've had mine many years, and when the Ekos came out I prefered Ittok/Lyra Lydian to Ekos/K18, though many seem to prefer the Ekos. Clearly the Ekos is better but at a lot higher price. RB300's have never been considered a good match on an LP12 but I have'nt herd this combo for a while.

I have LP12 Ittock/Lyra Lydian/Lingo and it is better than my CDX/XPS with good pressings. Though CDX/XPS is the first CD player I have owned that I actually think holds its own against a good Vinyl system
