Calling All Basseteers

Hi,
Does anyone own or have owned in the past a Basset hound, and have you survived the experience?
My wife and i own one called Bertie, we got him from Woodgreen re-homing centre 3 years ago.
He has a wonderful temperament, loves our 2.5 year old grandson and asks to be continually fussed and loved, the rest of the time he is usually asleep.
Being a hound he dislikes his "pack" being split up or he being left for long periods, he is also very single minded(stubborn)
We love him to bits and would certainly consider having another one in the future.
