xps2 burndy

does anyone out there know the US price of the new xps2 burndy? I have a cds2 and xps1 and word has it that this burndy offers a nice upgrade over the original burndy (this is according to the new naim spring 02 newsletter). Anybody perform this upgrade with the cds2? Just looking for a "cheap upgrade." -david

I tried an early version of the S-XPS black burndy. While it was more detailed then the original it appeared to be tonally more foreward, which may or may not suit a given system. I understand that the current production ones are better yet. But from what I have heard (on the sample I had) it is not the same degree of improvement as the black burndy was over the original gray one. And certainly no where as striking as the XPS2 is over the XPS1. I hope to have a later version of the S-XPS burndy to try in the next week or two. I'll let you know.

only comment I can find is that *if* I had an XPS2 I could have swapped it for a new one for £100 (before end of May).

Unfortunately, I don't.

Has a straight purchase price been announced?

I believe Gene Rubin said it is around $500 retail.
