CDX/NAC72/NAP140: Where do I add a HICAP?
Posted by: mangold3000 on 29 April 2003
Good afternoon!
My Naim sistem is:
CDX/NAC72/NAP140/IBLs.
I have bought an olive style HICAP yesterday.
Should I add it to the CDX or to the NAC72?
Where is more sound improvement to be expected?
Have you any experience you can share?
Thank you for answering with your comments.
Cheers

Conventional Naim thinking is "Source first", which would suggest the CDX. [Just read other posts, 72 it is then

]
I'm more of a heretic and would say try both options and see which you like best. Its your room, sistem and ears.

Is Naim the only way forward?

I'd recommend the 72. The CDX takes an XPS, not a hicap.
If you don't have the 72 'manual', check the Naim web site for instructions on hooking up a hicap; it's not intuitive the first time out. Or search the forum for hooking up a hicap.

Hello all
I should have known better.
You are right, the only chance for a HICAP is the preamp.
That was a Naim newbie question.
At least I know now that I didn't buy it for nothing...
Have a nice day.

Casper,
Get that Hi-cap conected as soon as and start enjoying the music.
The purchase of the hi-cap was a very good purchase.
