Naim forum slow to load??
Posted by: manicatel on 19 October 2008
For the last few days, getting on to the forum has been very slow to load up for me. I use firefox, which is all up to date. All other sites/forums are fine. Have there been any maintenance going on at the server or whatever that I am not aware of?
Other ideas?
Matt.

It did seem slow over the weekend but this evening it's almost instant (normal).

I've been having problems for a couple of days now and have been unable to access the forum.
I've just reset my router/modem which appears to have solved the problem. Strange really because the forum has been the only website in my bookmark list that I've been unable to access.
I was constantly getting this message, 'The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection'.

In my many years experience as an IT Manager I've found that people will put up with a ridiculous amount of hassle as long as they're told what's happening. No communication means big resentment. There have obviously been problems here for the past few days so how about it Adam et al? What's going on? We'll understand, perhaps even stay away for a while if makes it easier for you to sort things out.

Rather frustratingly this has coincided with a weekend and me being over in England and lacking access to my computer and addresses. I was in Naim yesterday and they had also lost the forum - on some PCs and not on others.
I have been in touch with Groupee and the problem may be with a redundant, dead, IP address - although why this has cropped up now is a mystery.
The computer I am using where I am staying has been able to access the forum all weekend and, obviously, now. I noted complaints of slowness but disappearance seemed a local problem as I was having no problems.
People are looking for a solution.

Thanks for the update Adam.
Sods law says that stuff like this will always happen when those concerned are unavailable to act quickly upon it.
At least I know its not me being a numpty!
Matt.

Everything was fine when I left France and any slowness I was putting down to this ghastly Apple thing I have been using over the weekend.
Give me what I know - that's what I say. Firefox, spellcheck, right mouse button .... viruses, crashes and all.

I thought you said the computer you had been using whilst away from home had been absolutely fine?
Oh look - you did:
"The computer I am using where I am staying has been able to access the forum all weekend"
Most erratic Mr Meredith, perhaps it's the time difference.
