Matching Speakers for Nait 5?
Posted by: AlanK on 18 May 2003
Does anyone know whether Spendor S-8/S-6 or ProAc Response D15 Speakers are good match for Nait 5? My room is 12' x 14' and I'm wondering if Nait 5 has sufficient power to drive those speakers?

The Proacs are to hard to drive but the Spendr S6s should sound great. It is only a Nait 5 remember...

Alan,
for the price I don't think you can get any better than the Mission 780's. They work well with Nait's.
I appreciate this was not the answer you were looking for but go and give them a try you may be very surprised.

The impedance load is practically everything.
You need to examine that facet carefully when deciding what to partner w/a Nait 5. Next, and almost as important is sensitivity.
That being said, I have heard two Nait-based systems that will lunch on most other combinations and hang around for their dinner too.
Carefull matching yields incredible results. If you are in love with a particular speaker, (and finding a speaker you love is difficult in and of itself!), then you'd be better off buying an amp to drive THAT particular set of speakers.

Hi Max,
Thanks for your reply! I'm actually thinking of upgrading my system because I do like the ProAc D15. Can I know what do you use in your system? Also, my room is 12' x 14'. Do you think it might be too small for the D15 Speakers?
Thank you!
Alan

I just sold my nait 5 because I had purchased brand new proac d15's, and the nait really did not have enough juice to drive them. It sounded ok, but you could tell that the nait was running out of current. I also think that the proac's should at least have something like the 150 with a flatcap to realise the potential of the speakers. I don't know if that applies to the spendors.

Have a Nait 5 myself and looking to upgrade speakers from B&W CDM1SE to something floor standing.
What about Naim speakers??? Will Allae work? Or a s/h SBL? Or is Intro 2 the only Naim choice?
Is anyone using SBL“s with Nait 5?
:-) Thomas
