Anyone got a naim tattoo?

Posted by: Shayman on 29 June 2005

C'mon. There's so many people here with such devout brand loyalty, who verge on pathological obsession for our favourite hifi manufacturer. Anyone gone the whole way and had the tattoos done?

A couple of SBLs or the logo on the upper arm perhaps?

6x 135s down the stomach?

A SNAXO on the forehead perhaps Berlin Fritz?

First to do it and post the pictures gets a bun or something.

The best tattoo I ever saw was on a guys' buttocks. He had a devil one one cheek merrily shoveling coal and on the other an angel with a fire extinguisher.

And just what were the circumstances that led to you seeing this tattoo? Eek

A few years ago I saw a chap with the Nike tick (is it Nike that has the tick?) tatooed on his bicep. Harley Davidson is one thing but a sports shoe manufacturer? I thought it bordered on obscene - especially considering the seatshop labour used to create Nike shareholder's wealth.

Funny you mention the whole manufacturer thing, but Robbie Savage the Blackburn footballer has the Armani tattoo on his arm Eek

Perhaps it helps him to work out which limb is which. If it was Legmani he might have trouble.

Oh gosh - another branding phenomenon has passed me by.

Not interested in a tattoo; a sticker for the car would be nice Adam.

Deane
my statement should have been in quotes as my son said to me "It's a Nike swoosh actually". It looked like a tick to me as well.

A NAIM car sticker would be nice. Mind you it could lead to you being followed.

Howard who would follow?

In all my years of owning naim every one new I met or spoke to regarding hifi said 'naim, whats that.'

During the LOTR films I noted one of my teenage patients had had 'Gandalf' and 'Frodo' tattoed in florid script over either side of his chest.

Shows more literacy than 'Milk' and 'Butter' I guess.

It's odd, I've always thought the Nike "tick" was a symbol of a wet towel being flicked at a child sewing machinist chained to a bench in a backstreet asian sweat shop for eighteeen hours a day.

But of course "Swoosh" is just a completely innnocent symbol representing "cool" to childish, western consumers.

Brings a whole new meaning to "branding", doesn't it? Excuse me while I puke. Roll Eyes

Nime me old China, as I've said afore, there are 'British' Asian owned 'Sweatshops' in London etc TODAY which are well known by the Home Office & The Police, often staffed by kids (who should be legally at school) and run on similar lines to what you refer, I personally find this even more perverse than the survival argument of those actually located in Asia, innit.

Fritz Von I bet they can clean winders well though ? Eek

Well, I've spent about two years of my life in clothing factories in the western world, on a sewing machine, making everything from high price garments for the 2000 Sydney Olympics to oilskin raincoats to police uniforms. I will never work in the rag trade again. Ever. It is extremely difficult to keep up with the bare minimum work rate expected of you, the wages are the lowest in the entire chain of garment manufacture and the machinist gets to fix up the mistakes of the designer, the pattern drafter and the cutter but is under the most pressure to perform. It is bad enough in a regulated economy - I hate the thought of what the conditions must be in unregulated economies.

It never ceases to amaze me how low some human beings will sink to make a quick buck off the bloody backs of others. Nothing is ever too awful in order to hang onto a bit of power and the corrupt wealth it brings. Genocide? Starvation? Mass murder? Firing machine guns into crowds of un-armed protestors? Mass imprisonment? Torture? Abductions? Slavery? Drugs? Forced prostitution? Bigotry? Tobacco? Cola? Living kidneys? Land theft? Child slavery? Eyes? No problem. They'll even subsidise it from public funds and shake hands with the perpetrators at photo opportunities.

Nime me old Mucker, I've told you 10 Billion times don't exaggerate, or you'll end up being as popular as moir, innit Winker

Anyone interested in how the Nike swoosh reprents? Well i'm telling you anyway.

When nike first started they asked a group of art students to come up with a logo for them. One day one of the students was sat by a lake and a bird "swooshed" down over the lake. The artists interpretation of the reflection of the bird in the lake became the know well known logo.

I wonder how much the art student received for his work?
