Freeview boxes

Any recomendations or ones to avoid?

We've got NTL at the moment but having had the usual shite service from them we're moving away from them as I object paying them a fortune in return for the hassle - TV first, phone and broadband to follow unless they give us a good deal.

Having the arial sorted tomorrow - I think the old one was put up when tv was

There was a previous thread on this not so long ago - suggest you run a search.

I would recommend the one I now have - a Humax model with twin tuners and 160gb hard drive which enables you to record two programmes at the same time - sometimes very handy if you are out.

The menu's are very user friendly and I have not had any problems whatsoever - more than can be said for the first Humax digibax I had - perhaps a Friday afternoon special but it was pants!

Thanks, I have done a search and the Humax does seem to come out well but I'm just looking for Freeview at the moment. A box with a HDD can come later as we're eventually going to need several boxes if we're not going to have world war 3 break out whenever someone wants to watch CBBC and someone else wants the soaps...

One more question - are any of these things HD ready?

Don't think there is going to be HD transmissions on Freeview type delivery.

Pop into Asda and buy the current cheapest -which is £23 by Pacific (same one exactly as Durabrand PSTB1) with RCA phono L & R audio out/2 scarts/free basic adequate scart lead.

If this is not good enough, buy that Sony one about £80.
