attention all doubters!

just a quick word about the gig at the brixton academy last night. Anyone with any doubts about this band simply has to see them live. On record I think they are great but maybe not that innovative, but live they blow away ANY band I can think of. Seconds after coming on they detonate with huge riffs, thwacking drums blistering guitar breaks and jack whites manic, twisted vocals. The crowd went beserk and I went away grinning like mad, happy above all that after twenty odd years of going to gigs i'm still seeing performances as life afirming as any I've ever seen.

just hope the fall next week can live up to this.

Absolutely, positively...

...gotta agree with that. Christmas present from GF was tickets to see them at EMpress Baallroom, Blackpool last Wednesday. In spite of the terrible weather in the north we dashed from work to the "Vegas of the North", making it to the venue just in time.

The Ballroom was rammed and already filled with atmosphere. From the moment the pair came on stage to the end of the final song, they were absolutely captivating. Quite how they make a sound so loud with just drums, guitar and voice is beyond me but the waves of coruscating blues just created electricity.

Sure, they're receiving much more airplay these days, but that in no way diminshes the music. Make sure they're next on your list of bands to see.

I could not agree more!. I saw them twice last year, in St Louis and Indianapolis and was totally blown away at how involved the crowd gets with their music. The best 2 concerts I have ever attended by far!
