Amazon Marketplace

Forgive a cut n paste job from elsewhere - hoping for larger, more experienced readership here.

Whilst deal hunting I'm coming across more marketplace sellers that Amazon say cannot process payments through them at any given time and that I should seek other suppliers or try again later. If you send an email enquiry direct to the seller you get a fairly standard response asking who you are (but not for any payment) and what you want, advising that Amazon will contact me later about payment (I'm presently waiting to see if that happens).

Is this procedure ligit, and, should anything go wrong, would my Amazon Marketplace guarantee be invalidated if I have divulged my personal details directly to a marketplace seller?

I realise this may be a well trodden path but thanks for any advice.

Edited to add - what happens next is you are advised to make payment through Western Union.

Edited to further add that the 'My Account' link in a return email goes straight to Amazon. Com not .Co. Uk. (Despite 'My Account' being blank on both sites since I've provided no payment details.)

Also, the shipper would be sending from Rumania not UK as profiled. Nonetheless, last comment from seller as follows: 'The ***** is at amazon. I have a contract with them. It will be shipped from there.' Is this standard Amazon procedure?

Seems that even if the goods turned up they'd be black or very grey market or nicked.

Alex.

Romania, Western Union, differing details.

I would be VERY suspicious of this. There are many instances of scamming detailed here and elsewhere.

Have you written to Amazon UK to get their views ?

I would be inclined to walk away.

What is it you are thinking of purchasing ?

hi,
I have purchased and sold CD's on Amazon market place - payment has been direct to Amazon and any other way has been boycotted by me. This way I play it safe...

BTW why are Amazon so lax about letting these people into their marketplace? Surely, not being ripped off from their site is just as important as extra traffic?
