Wanted: Your 10 favorite guitarists any genre......

Who are your ten favorite/best/most-influential, etc..guitarists of all time. The Rolling Stone top 100 guitarists list is a ridiculous joke. I'd like to see what serious music lovers (like those on the Naim Forum)consider to be their top 10 guitarists of any genre.

Note: if this thread takes off, I will compile a list reflecting overall top 10 from time to time so we can see how things look. Thanks in advance for your usual participation.

After posting re the omission of Steve Morse,
I realized both Roy Buchanon and Clarence White
(both gone but not forgotten)have been unjustifiably overlooked. If you don'recognize these three names, you are missing out on some serious talent well worth investigating.

Pretty sure these guys have been mentioned in the thread. If not, they should've been for sure. Don't forget it's supposed to be "ten favorite" not ten best or ten most influential. Different folks will have different strokes as Sly Stone said in a different way.

Here's my top ten guitarists (with some help from my friend Sabrina) - in no particular order. Most are rock or fusion, 'cause that's what I know:

Steve Vai
Scott Henderson
Allan Holdsworth
Jimi Hendrix
Mike Stern
Eric Clapton
Stanley Jordon
Eddie Van Halen
This guy I don't know who I saw playing on the street in London when I was there
Jeff Beck

By the way, someone put Stanly Clarke earlier, and he is a bass player, not a guitarist. I would, but the way, consider the following as top bass players in jazz/rock:

Stanley Clarke
Jaco Pastorious
Victor Wooten
Brian Bromberg
Rob Wasserman
Jimmy Johnson
