Stands for (OLD) Mission 780s.

HI Guys,

I have finally given up on my Epos ES11’s – just to much boom and ‘Tizz in my small room with lowish ceiling and a springy floor.

A pair of old Mission Cyrus 780 has replaced them and sound far more even. Thing is I need a pair of stands for them – The Epos open frame stands are the wrong size ( Spikes two far apart and to low) but do give the impression that open frame stands are the way to go.
I was thinking KAN 2 stands but has any one else go any more suggestions? I will be buying 2nd hand naturally.

Thanks

Hi Simon,

Forget about the Kan-II stands. They're great with Kan's and also the old Royd models, but a Mission 780 is better of with a high-mass fillable stand, for example an Atacama SE24, or some old Target.
In fact, finding a suitable stand for the old Mission 780 is a hell of a lot easier than finding a pair of stands for the new 780's.
(The new 780's measure only 14,5cm width on the bottom, which make 99% of all stands unsuitable, expect Mission's own 'Stance'.
(clecer thinking Mission Wink )

I don't agree with Alco. Have had 780SE's for years before I bought the Kan 3's. Couldn't get them to sound right (on Atacama's) until I got the Kan 2 stands.

780's do need light rigid stands like Kan 2's. On heavy stands like Atacama's they produce a big, slow, lumpy bass and squeeky treble.

Thanks for all the responses.

Alco - Have you actually tried the 780's on Kan stands?

Willem - How tall are Kan 2 stands?

Simon - Thanks for the offer, what are the stands like? I have seen an old picture of the alternative open frame stand that mission offered at it looks like a KAN / EPOS replica.

I think I will be going for open frame stands as even though I have had to compromise in using my existing Epos stands the missions do time very well so I am almost convinced open frame is the way to go.
