My CDS1 vs CDS2 review

Hi!

I considered to upgrade the head-unit of my CDS1 to CDS2-status, so I asked my dealer for a home-demo of the CDS2. I wanted to know how big the difference is... At the moment I have my CDS1/CDPS/GreyBurndy and for a few days the dealers CDS2/XPS/BlackBurndy.

There is not much to say. The CDS2 is just far, FAR better, I didn't expect that the difference is that large.

I definitely am going to have my CDS1 rebuilt asap and also I will have my eyes open for a reasonable priced s/h XPS...

Music sounds soft, clear, bouncy, glossily through the CDS2. The harshness of CDS1 is tiring...

You should have tried the CDS1 with a black burndy. The harshness you describe disappears and the gap between the 1 and 2 is significantly reduced. My CDS1 is as smooth as my P9 but not as musical.

If the funds allow you will also be impressed with the the Dynavector XX-2 and Fraim. As with the CDS1 to CDS2 just dont try unless you are in a position to buy. They really are that good
