Story of the Beach Boys

Posted by: garyi on 04 September 2002

I remember when i worked in France someone staying in our chalet who told us the story of the Beach Boys.

I went to relay it this evening and have completly forgotten it and every thing about it, however I remember it being a sad tale.

Does anyone know the story of the beach boys and care to remind me?

Well Gary,

your query is so pointedly phrased that I cannot but fill you in.

There was a Beach Man, and there was a Beach Woman. Neither was aware of this, since they lived miles apart (big beaches out there in California). He was tan and athletic. She was tan, blonde, and not too bad looking. She'd never worn anything but a bikini. (Problem was, she had only one pair. She'd sit in the laundromat behind the LA Times, naked.)

One day (perhaps an entire weekend) there was a big February storm and like flotsam Beach Man and Beach Woman drifted closer. They were cold.

The moment they saw each other is a Big Moment in California Beach History.

"You Beach Woman?" Her hair was a mess. But that made the appeal all the more visceral. If he'd be Tarzan, she'd be Jane in a jiffy.

And so it turned out. (In Hollywood they call this meeting cute.)

It goes without saying that their offspring was legion, too legion to mention, and that's why they are called the Beach Boys. Some of them score Beach Girls. Some of them don't. Some of the latter stumble around with metal detectors, looking for quarters. That's the sad part.

Hope this answers your query, Gary?

Herman

This is possibly not the first time he's been threatened in this way!
