Flutterbuster!! Anyone know where I can get one??

Posted by: domfjbrown on 28 February 2003

I heard that the Flutterbuster can drive a Rega 3 at 33/45 without dismantling the deck. If this is true, I want one NOW as, after the Massive Attack debacle, I've got paranoid about bearing damage by knocking the spindle when removing/replacing the glass platter...

So.... Does anyone know where I can get one? A fellow Groovehandler got one from Ebay for (a dirt cheap IMHO) £70 - I reckon that's a bargain for my piece of mind re the deck, oh, and user convenience...

Anyone? Someone?? Smile

If you want to buy a new one, I think they're still available from the mail order bit of Hi-Fi News & Record Review.

Somewhere in the mag (between the middle and the end IIRC) is a list of mad tweaky things you can order. Among the less mad ones is the Flutterbuster.

Otherwise just save up for a P9. It's worth it!

Ohhhh a P9 (rushes to get loo rool to mop up drool off keyboard)...

I might just have to check out Hifi Snooze then - I did wander about if they were still available new... A P9 will take me a very long time with my usual buying of music and obsolete technology...

PS - anyone know anyone selling a *cheap* laserdisc player??

Discipline man, discipline!

Alternatively, if you don't mind giving up the 45rpm option, you might ask Linn dealers if they have an old Valhalla lying around. I think you can rig these as a P3 PSU and they're supposed to make a definite improvement.

In my callow youth I did once write to Mark Tucker at Naim asking them to make a P3 PSU in a little box. He wrote back telling me to buy an Armageddon.

Ho hum.
