Diet and Health

Posted by: BLT on 27 January 2004

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical
studies:
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Americans, Australians, British, or Canadians.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the Americans, Australians, British, or Canadians.

3. The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Americans, Australians, British, or Canadians.
4. The Italians drink large amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the Americans, Australians, British, or Canadians.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Americans, Australians, British, or Canadians.

6. Ukrainians drink a lot of vodka, eat a lot of perogies, cabbage rolls and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Americans, Australians, British, or Canadians.

CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you. Big Grin

Hmm, it must be the stress of speaking English...

And Greenlanders live on whale blubber and don't suffer from heart disease.

Well that's what someone told me anyway.

Do Greenlanders live long enough to suffer from it?

Living in a mainly Jewish area of London in the late sixties my family had the benefit of learning about Bägels (virtually unknown to the massess, as was garlic) especially hot on a Sunday moaning, as everybody else was closed, luvvly jubbly.

Cottage Cheese with apple (Hütten Käse) in German goes excellently with aforementioned Bägels, and is very healthy indeedy².

Hi Ayre, how's it going ?
Yes, Many years ago in London one could not buy anything on Sundays except Beer in pubs, and newspapers etc. Food-Wise, as the Jewish Sabbat is saturday (as you know) they could run markets and Delikatessessns on Sunday's which was brilliant for me personally, to see and taste many new things that were totally unknown to most British folk, long before the emergence of the Asian curry's etc, which have basically saved the Nation in my view, but what do I know ?

Cheers, & I hope Haifa Uni is doing fine too, they have a great English Dept I hear ?

Take it easy, it's been a heavy day for your part of the World so I see on the News ! so I trust there's still hopoe as it were ?

OK, if you are talking about the University of Haifa, and if you are judging my English, I think that you can’t say "that they have a great English Dept ".

It is an unfair world, I 'm stuck in at my work and you are drinking beers - and with a great nerve - in a DIET THREAD !!!!
