There are many ways to Rome....

Hi,

My current system: CDX,XPS,102,NAPSC,250,6shelfFraim,ProAc2.5,Chord
Odysse.
I want to upgrade up to a certain point which might be as follows: CDS3 level, 252,300...
that means saving money for about 2-3 years.
Source first would mean I go for CDS3, but....
I could also first change preamp and amp and
then after about 2 years see what's all about
the changes to new formats.
My stomach tells me: go for CDS3
My head tells me: go for 252,300 and then I'll know more. (seems to be wiser!)

It's not that I couldn't sleep anymore, I'm just
considering my options.

ps 1:My current system delivers great music and I ENJOY every second with it..

ps 2: Of course I first want to know more about the new products before I buy...

Thanks for every advice

Cheers.

What other sources do you have on the system - eg tuner TV, DVD etc

If more than one source what percent of the time is spent listening to the CD player.

If you upgrade the PRE then all the sources will be improved.
If you upgrade the CD player you will only upgrade the CD........

After looking at the problem numerically let your heart take over.

If it was my system I would look towards changing the pre-amp first. The 102 is good but the 82 is even better. Changing the pre-amp will allow you to hear the upgrades you make in your source, however if you change the CDX first the 102 will restrict the improvements you will hear.
